Building on a recent Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) report, The Impact of the CPTPP on Trade between Canada and the Asia Pacific, this six-part mini-report series examines the impact of the CPTPP on merchandise and services trade between Canada and six CPTPP signatories: Australia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Vietnam (trade with Brunei was not analyzed due to limited data).
These reports explore the CPTPP’s benefits for Canada’s merchandise and services trade with these ‘AP7’ countries at both the national and sub-national levels in the five years following Canada’s ratification (2019–2023). They also identify trade opportunities for Canadian firms looking to expand their presence in these markets.
